The nutrients/fish waste from this Koi pond supplies the heavy feeders in this garden with a rich food source. In permaculture design we call this stacking functions. You feed the fish the fish feed the plants. Closed loop system is the ideal but this system is simple and works reliably well allowing this small Koi pond to support rather large fish.
